The area has a number of castles & family attractions to keep everyone occupied on a wet day. For shopping: closeby are the market towns of Hawes, Leyburn, Richmond & Ripon. Further away is Harrogate and the historic city of York.
Inside the cottage
The building dates from 1792 and was a cow milking barn for Strands farm, before being converted into a residential property in 1983 and then extended in 2007. The original farmhouse (we believe the oldest house in Swaledale) is next door and is now attached to the further house built by the accountant of the local lead mine.
Situated in arguably the most beautiful Dale in the Yorkshire Dales national park, Swaledale. Strands View is located between Gunnerside and Low Row overlooking the Swale River. From the front door, the pub is only a short walk through the iconic Gunnerside Bottoms.
