A simple there and back walk along the valley bottom from Gunnerside to Muker taking in Ivelet and the old pack horse bridge at Ivelet: a great subject for photography. One of the highlights of the walk in early summer is the part of the walk from the crossing of the Swale to Muker through the meadows, which at that time of year are covered in wild flowers. Don’t forget to look back up the Dale towards the ruins of Crackpot Hall, which have been watching over the Swale since the early 1800’s. Muker also has one of the best tea shops in the Dale and the Farmers Arms pub, so it is a great place to refresh at the end of the walk. The tea shop is closed during the winter months. To return to Gunnerside, you can either walk back or take the Little White Bus. Do check the link, since in winter there is a reduced service. The length and time data above is for oneway.
